Vote! Vote! Vote!

Hi everyone!

I need a big favour! Some very good friends of mine run a theatre company called Rhymes With Purple Productions and they've recently been nominated for Best Theatre Company in the Scottish Variety Awards.

They work harder than anyone I know and make pretty much no cash from their ventures - it's all done for the love. They've been very good to me and I happily work quite a few of their events. So if you could take a moment or two to vote, I'd appreciate it.

http://www.tinyurl.com/rwpvote

Also, one half of RWP, Louise Oliver, has been nominate in the Best Scottish Writer category! So if you could vote for her there too, I'd love that even more - she more than deserves this!!

http://www.realradio-scotland.co.uk/events/nomination-criteria-for-our-svas-2009-fedc/best-new-scottish-writer-2009/dut4esd1/

Just a little hint... you can vote more than once if you use different broswers!

Thanks all xxx

Not done a Friday Five in a while...

http://www.fridayfive.org

1. What’s your favorite thing about the shoes you’re wearing (or the shoes you were most recently wearing)?
It would've been my steelies (work boots). I love that they have pink bits on them... I get to be a girlie girl and it's the only flash of colour in my uniform!

2. What’s your favorite thing about the people you work with (or the people you go to school with)?
I like that we can have a good laugh at silly stuff and am grateful to them for so graciously accepting a camp girlie into the group (I'm the only girl!)

3. What’s your favorite thing about the climate where you live?
It's pretty unpredictable! I do like that even when it's sunny, it's rarely unbearable. I don't do sunshine...

4. What’s your favorite thing about Friday?
Just the word Friday is very satisfying, I think... Rrrrrolls off the tongue.

5. What’s your favorite thing about the year coming to an end?
The fact there's a new year about to start which with a bit of luck will bring a new start for me!

My mini-adventure: part two

So I'm back from Birmingham!

I have slept in so many different beds this week I barely know what city I am. I should perhaps point out that I was just travelling about in different hotels, not picking up men...

I've just about recovered enough now but I fear my memory might be a bit fuzzy. But here goes...

I arrived in Brum on Thursday morning. I had a bit of time to kill before heading to Saffron's (she wasn't in and I didn't have a key) so I took the opportunity to re-aquint myself with Birmingham City Centre. For all the times I go down there, I hardly see anything because I rarely have a day to spare. If it's Candy Box I will see Saff's house, the hotel and the Glee Club. And that's about it.

So it was cool to have a wander about and see what's changed. I also went crazy in the new branch of New Look (obviously) and bought loads of bits and pieces for my Halloween outfit. And a LOT of pants. The rest of the day was spent catching up with the family and then I headed to town to my first hotel.

Before checking in I thought I'd be smart and buy some snacks and breakfast in the Tesco across the road. I spent ages pottering about before finally taking my basket full of crap to the checkout. I put my card in the reader to pay then suddenly realised I didn't have my suitcase with me! After I paid, I ran back and found I'd just walked away from it in the middle of an aisle. What a twat.

The rest of the evening was less eventful, with me just watching a bit of telly, snacking and then sleeping.

The next day was Halloween. I checked out and pottered about town. Having realised that I'd forgotten my black bra, I decided to take a trip to Solihull to my favourite lingerie shop and buy a new one. However I couldn't find a train that went there, despite visiting Solihull by train on several previous occassions. As I was meeting Maria, I didn't have time to wait about so settled for a bra that wasn't quite the right fit in another shop. I later realised that the train to Solihull doesn't leave from New Street and actually goes from Moor Street. Never mind the fact that the only time I've ever gone to Moor Street station in the past was to get a train to Solihull. Again, what a twat.

I met Maria we had dinner and then headed to the next Travelodge. After a bit of negotiation with taxi drivers (Maria had asked how much it would be, was quoted a ridiculous amount so went to the next taxi in the queue. This then started a whole debate between us and the two drivers that became bigger than it should have been! Our driver then wouldn't shut up for the whole journey...). Anyway, we got ready then got a cab to the Palookaville! gig.

At the gig support came from The Stags who were an absolute scream and went down really well. They looked really cool too, especially the girl singer. I saw Missy and Leyla again which was lovely and very briefly caught up with Imelda. However come the end of the night I could hardly stand I was so tired.

I managed to get my camera to work which was cool. Filmed some bits and took some fun photos, my favourite of which is this one of me and Saff:

That's one for the parents' mantlepiece...

The next morning I went with Maria to meet Lisa and we had a tasty breakfast. I'm not usually one for cooked breakfasts but this was a veggie one and was delish! I then had to shoot off to meet Leonie for lunch (we couldn't finish a Wetherspoons platter between us!). I never really get the chance to see Leonie when I'm in Brum so it was nice to have a proper catch-up. I did some more New Look shopping and then headed to Saff's where I was staying that night. I bought some dinner from my favourite Chinese take-away and I had every intention of watching some films or telly that night but by 10.30 I was shattered and needed my sleep. I woke up 13 hours later... and even then only because my alarm went off.

It was back to Glasgow the next day where I got to pay £7 excess baggage (despite my case being lighter than it was on the way down - when I WASN'T charged!) and hang about bored waiting for my delayed flight.

I've had the day off to recover and catch-up on bits but it's back to reality tomorrow... *sighs*

My mini-adventure: part one

Well I'm back from Nottingham! I had a really great time, actually.

Frankengrind was a fantasic show and I ended up doing stage work for it. I volunteered because Cherry DeVille needed someone and I was only too happy to help out (when am NOT happy to help out??). The following things made it great:

* I saw Missy Malone and Leyla Rose. This is always A Good Thing. They are great girls anyway, but the fact they nearly fell over themselves (and each other) just to give me a hug when I arrived just made me feel all warm inside.

* I saw Cherry DeVille and Millie Dollar, also two lovely ladies. I don't see them quite as frequently as M&L but nonetheless they're always friendly and sweet. Cherry thanked me loads for helping out but it really was my pleasure. It was a cool show, there was a friendly atmosphere and I can do that sort of work with my eyes closed nowadays.

* I met some new people! Bella Von Kiss, Bella Besame, Bam Bam Blue and Snappy O'Shea were all performing and I met/saw them perform for the first time. They were all a delight. Fabulous Fred Bear (of Bearlesque) was compere - we'd met before, briefly, but it was nice to get to know him a little better this time.

* It was all for charity! Lots of money raised for Breast Cancer Care. Marvellous.

* Nottingham's a really nice city! I mean it has a bad reputation at night but I wasn't really out in it at night so I can't comment. However during the day it was very pleasant. It's pretty - it looks like lots of quaint little towns but scattered all over a space the size of a big city. I met some of the friendliest shop staff I've ever dealt with anywhere. One young man in Poundland stands out as being particularly fun, telling me he'd serve me if I smiled. I obliged. And the bus drivers to and from the airport were friendly, helpful and pleasant - a rarity amongst bus drivers in any city!

The only down side to my trip was it knackered me so much I couldn't make it to L&F's play in Glasgow. I had planned to head straight over but almost fell asleep on the plane. I also hadn't (haven't, actually) packed for Birmingham tomorrow. I feel really bad that I couldn't make it - I SO wanted to support them because they've been so good to me. I just couldn't find the energy or the ability to stay awake.

So that was Nottingham. When I get back, I'll report on my 4 days in Brum.

But just as a final addition, I need to do this:

Comment and I will....

a) Tell you why I friended you.

b) Associate you with something -- a fandom, song, color, photo, etc.

c) Tell you something I like about you.

d) Tell you a memory I have of you.

e) Ask you something I've wanted to know about you

f) Tell you my favorite userpic from your list

g) In return, you need to post this on your own LJ.

Friday 5 for September 12: No Way! Way!

Friday 5!

1. Who lets you have your way more than you should?
Hmmm... maybe my parents. Probably mostly my dad, actually.

2. According to the cliche, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but what’s the way to yours?
Also through my stomach. Preferably with sugar.

3. What’s something that should have been put away but hasn’t been?
My clean laundry, my make-up and my unpacked bags from Birmingham a couple of weeks ago. Dealing with it tomorrow!

4. When did you last weigh yourself?
I think a month or two ago, but I don't do it very often. Don't like being a slave to the scales!

5. What do the cops in the donut shop say?
"Waaay-oh, waaay-oh, waaaaay-oh-way-ohhhhhhhhhh... Walk like an Egyptian..."

Friday 5

Haha! I just found the Friday 5 thing is still going. It's Saturday (nearly Sunday actually) but I'm going to do it anyway. If I remember I'll do this every week, if only to post something...

What’s your favorite orange-colored food?
I think I'll go with Scottish Cheddar cheese - it's pretty bloody tasty

What’s the best way to drink orange juice?
I'm not sure what my options are, but... from a glass? Maybe with a cube of ice if it's in a pub

Which candy’s orange-colored pieces taste best?
Well the obvious answer is orange Smarties but Smarties in general don't taste as good as they used to. What else is there...? Oh maybe Skittles (but the purples and reds are actually my faves)

What are your feelings about orange soda?
It's orange and fizzy...?

When did you last wear an orange item of clothing?
I have a red and orange dress thing that I wore a few months back. But I don't own anything that's just orange (apart from one hair flower)

Shifting updates...

From now on, any webby updating stuff will probably be posted at my MySpace blog thinger.

I say that with the greatest optimism that perhaps at some point there will actually be updates to post about!!

AT LAST!

GlitterCritter.Com is BACK!

It's slimmer, and brighter than before. But, some things never change - it still has a layout featuring a foxy lady, and based around something culty!

Guestbook's getting lonely - give it some love!

I'm off to bed... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The Great PC Crash of 2006...

Don't you just hate it when your computer just dies...? I hate it mostly because I suddenly realise how much I rely on it for everything - and in turn realise how tragic that is! *laughs*

Thankfully nothing major (i.e. all my websites!) was lost, but I've still got a bit of catching up to do, especially when it comes to re-installing all my programs.

Of course this has resulted in no updates on Candy Box, Marianne Cheesecake or my beloved Glitter Critter. *sighs*

CB and MC are being worked on now though... and the quicker I get them out the way, the quicker I get GC back together. Awww, I miss my lovely wee site.

In fact I'm going to try and get as much done as possible in the two hours (ish) I have before I really have to go to bed. YAY!

Come back soon... you never know, I might actually have some real updates for ya!

Websites a go-go!

Whooooooosh!

That was me whizzing around online.

I'm feeling particularly pleased with myself as GlitterCritter's new layout is pretty much done - already! Somehow, the 'starting from scratch' layout has taken half the time of the last one - AND I like it much better.

Sneaky peak:

Hopefully you can't tell what the theme is from that, because I like to keep that a closely-guarded secret... Even although it's actually quite obvious if you know me at all! But the colours are nice, eh?

All I've got to do is fix up the pages of content and then I'm done. I've not, unfortunately, had the time to actually do much with the content, other than chop it down a bit, but give it time!

I also managed to complete the laundrette site in about 30 seconds, so I'm feeling very pleased with myself indeed.

The site for [info]my_2nd_mask should be coming along quite nicely soon too as we're working well on ideas of how it should all look. I'm hoping to concentrate on it properly this weekend. Rock and roll.

Hopefully if I mess around for a couple of hours a night, I'll have the new look GC.Com unveiled by next week. *dances*

Mar. 19th, 2006

You wait ages for a website commission... then two come along at once!

Blimey, I've been commissioned to do TWO websites right now - one a simple chuck-together one which will be done within a couple of days (it's for a laundrette), the other is for a burlesque artiste who will be performing at Candy Box next month. So that's going to take a bit of work 'cause obviously it's got to look beautiful and artistic!

That's the good news. The bad news is I seem to have misplaced my original layout for GlitterCritter and only have weird experimental ones which can't be fixed to look nice. So I think I'll have to start again on that one, which is a bugger. But I have lots of ideas so I'm hoping to throw something together quickly. I'm sticking to the same theme on this, but I think I'll do it a little differently.

Over'n'out!

All in the best possible taste...

Crikey! I've just looked at my new layout for GlitterCritter.Com for the first time in ages. I now realise it's possibly the tackiest, most tasteless layout I've done yet. I bloody love it! Rock and roll. I'm all inspired to finish it off now (although I think I've forgotten some of things I was going to add to it... oops!).

Tuesday is my day off from work, so I'll maybe do something with it then. Fantastic.

Talking of tacky, I made a new theme for TV Cyber. As the forum is a tribute to ye olde Terrorvision Cyber, Al (the gaffer) wanted a couple of themes to match the original. So 'Pink Cyber' was [re]born! I really hope it takes off over there... I miss my Terror family. *sighs*

Just been reading the Internet Movie Database and seen a few posts saying that both Madonna and that remixed Leo Sayer song pay homage to Xanadu in their videos! I'll have to investigate this - HOW exciting that the rest of the world is catching up with me and seeing that Xanadu is the greatest film of all time (if you don't count all those other great films...)! My sis bought me a Xanadu t-shirt as a graduation pressie and really - I nearly wet my pants. I'll be wearing it with pride at every given opportunity - especially as it was recently the 10th anniversary of the death of Mr Gene Kelly. *pouts*

Anyway... it's pretty clear that all that was a hint about the next GC layout, isn't it...?

Edit: *wets pants* Just found the Leo Sayer video - it's actually a total pastiche to the opening scene of Xanadu, a total replica! How cool - I love that the folk buying that song will have no idea and probably haven't heard of Xanadu anyway. Funny... even the choreography is similar. The song's apparently number one too - let's just hope this doesn't add any credibility to my all-time fave movie!

Miss Audrey

What a week!

Well... Candy Box was an incredible success, and we've had a whole load of new folk joining the mailing list, which is really cool. It also means I'm going to be pretty busy updating it again this weekend - photos, guest book, links and maybe a coupla other bits will be added.

I haven't forgotten about my eldest baby - I plan to concentrate on GC.Com in the next couple of weeks. What with double trips to Brum, working, work night out etc, I feel like I've had no time to do anything! The silly thing is I've done most of the hard work on it - it's just needing tweaked a bit really.

I did just make time to make some avatars for Miss [info]lira_million 'cause she rocks. I'm going to try and make a couple more for some other folks. *nods* I likes avatars.

I bought a new jacket and half the accessories department in work today. In order to fund this expensive shopping habit of mine, I am doing a bit of an eBay sell again. Someone paid almost £10 for my Wizard of Oz dvd the other week... that was unexpected.

I had other stuff to write about, but it's all gone now... so I'll sign off and hopefully be back soon with oodles of updated webby goodness! Yes!

Who will buy my lovely musical DVDs?

Okay no webby stuff to update as such... at all, in fact. Err... I ordered some nice business cards to take to Candy Box with me though, if that counts? No? Ah.

I am selling some bits on eBay though, so you can all have a look at that. Nothing extraordinary, just some DVDs. Those who know me only too well managed to buy me lovely spangly fancy sets of some of my fave films/stars so I've got some doubles to sell.

I'll be adding more crap to it all later, including some vids and calenders and wot not. I've spotted a great deal of cool Spice Girls stuff on eBay so I'm probably going to spend the money right back on that. Well, I have to feed my habit somehow (it's a "disease")...

Anyway - BUYMEBUYMEBUYME.

Candy Kisses and Little Misses

As The Candy Box draws ever-closer, the site's been getting a few updates. Loads of people on the mailing list so very excited about it all. AND now I know I'm going, it's better still! Rock and indeed roll.

Been a bit stressy recently so nothing has happened to GlitterCritter.Com as yet... will get on it, eventually.

And I'm not going to bother renewing glittercritter.biz - it was fun, but unnecessary, really. Instead I have a spangly new domain - ItsMissCarrie.Com - which leads to my porfolio site. That has also been spruced up a little... 'little' being the operative word there. The content could do with an overhaul, but hey...

Anywaaaay... I'll post again when I have something webby to update. That'll be 2007 then...

Dec. 23rd, 2005

Just had to share...

This used to be a tradition of Starlet's blog, but today I found I too get amusing Google referrals. Usually my website tracker shows things like "glitter fairy" or something simply related to to Glitter Critter was searched for in Google in order for someone to reach my site.

However, as I deleted the old Glitter Critter Forums I remembered I had a tracker for them too and had a look at it for the first time in ages. Here is a screenshot of the Google referrals - real people actually typed these words and phrases into Google and somehow thought my old forum would help them with their queries!

Screenshot can be seen in full here )

I'm loving that an old joke about my dad's mis-reading of [info]quasigeek's surname has appeared in there as turboange. And there seems an obsession with boobs... but hey, isn't there always when I'm involved?

In other news, I seem to be allowed to upload 6 userpics to LiveJournal, instead of 3. How'd that happen, then?

Dec. 19th, 2005

Je suis rubbish

Right, right... ok, so now The Candy Box has come out of the closet and its site is generally under control I feel a little less stressed now.

However, I am working crazy hours over the Christmas period - that's what I get for going back to retail; stupid, stupid Carrie!! - so nothing's getting done right now. I haven't even got around to renewing all my domain names - oops!

So there's a big "go away, come back another day" type sign up on GC right now and I'll deal with it, and everything else, in the new year.

However, if you want some advice on shoes right now, I'm your girl!

EDIT: Sorry folks, I should say - Merry Christmas if you're celebrating it (and have a nice time anyway if you're not) xx
